Hope to become BLPs in the future!
How are Jr VLPs Selected?
Students interested in joining as a Junior VLP must apply thoughtfully using the application section within the 9th Grade Recommitment process via this form by April 1st. All applicants will be interviewed by a staff member. If selected, candidates will be asked to join us for JR VLP and BLP orientation. Only students who successfully complete orientation will then become Jr VLPs!

BT is an 8-year commitment, and you are at the halfway point! But what do the next 4 years hold for you and your family? Our commitment to helping each student attend and graduate from a “best fit and most affordable” college includes a greatly scaled-down program to allow students to explore other support programs, commit more fully to sports and hobbies, and freely build their academic resumes in support of their college to career goals.
We also understand that, after 4 years, BT may no longer be the best fit for some of our students. We ask that all students complete our 9th Grade Recommitment Form to let us know if they plan to stay in BT or try other programs. If they decide that now is the time to take a step back from BT, know the door is always open if they wish to return in later grades. Have questions? Reach out to Yvania Choy, BLP Coordinator/HS Program Assistant (yvania@breakthroughsf.org)
Below are some other programs to consider for dual commitment with BT or singular commitment if BT is no longer a priority:
