Janet Dudding

Candidate for Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts

Nominee for Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts

"Texas deserves someone managing our money who understands everyday Texans. We also need someone who understands smart spending.

My name is Janet Dudding, and I’m running for Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts.

As a certified public accountant, I’ve spent my adult life auditing, accounting for, administering and investigating state and local governments and their grants, taxes, procurement, spending and reporting. In other words – I understand how the system works and how we could better utilize it to our advantage.

Right now we’re overpaying for services that don’t offer any real benefits. We’re paying $100M MORE in state taxes to DENY comprehensive mental healthcare. We’re letting our property taxes pick up the tab when indigent care becomes crisis care. We’re letting corporations skate on property tax giveaways.

We need to do better and spend smarter. Plain and simple.

When I look at the numbers, I see HUGE opportunity here in Texas. From healthcare to the environment, to creating jobs and new revenue streamI’m qualified, care deeply, and ready to put in the work."

Janet Dudding is a certified public accountant from Bryan.  She will face Tim Mahoney, an Austin attorney, and Angel Luis Vega, a Barker resident in the Democratic primary.

Nominee for County Commissioner

Wanda J. Watson

“I can be that county commissioner that truly represents Precinct 4. I can show that passion that I have for my community, and I can be that servant and voice from the community,” she said. “When I see people who are informed, I know I have that passion to serve my fellow man, and to take that passion into my community.”

If elected, she hopes to bring knowledge to those community members who may not know what local government does and ways it can benefit them.

She said she hopes to keep the community informed and with time she will see what areas the county may need attention or improvement.

“I think this is a good [chance] for me to be that voice, to keep the community informed and to listen to those issues and bring that back to the court, and hopefully I can advocate for the citizens and be able to bring solutions to those issues,” she said. “In this role that the county serves … I can take action and come up with reasonable solutions where people will feel like someone is equally representing them.”
