B1: Design Specifications
Work as a class to create broad requirements for the Sustainable Homes.
Work in small groups to identify Design Specifications for these requirements.
Compare the group Design Specifications to the needs of your user (Persona) and create your own Design Specifications in your Workbook.
Homework: Present the Design Specifications to an adult "user". Get feedback and improve.
Start Design Specifications with Will, Must, Should, Could

Brainstorm your house exterior and roofs using the Roof handout from Architecture book p15
Brainstorm Site Plan using the Site plan handout p27

Day 13 (80 minutes)
B2: Develop Design Ideas
Review your brainstorm handouts from the previous lesson
Quickly design 2 possible house layouts in cardboard. Use recycled cardboard and glue guns.
Remember it would be easier for you if your house layouts were constrained to a single-floor
Consider the arrangement of structural elements (doors/walls/windows/etc)
Consider the arrangement of the sustainable systems
Draw your site layout like we practiced
Consider orientation of the house (North-South-East-West)
Give and Receive feedback based on the TAG Feedback Routine
Upload photos of your sketches and feedback to your Workbook

Day 14(80 minutes)
B3: Develop Design Ideas
Based on feedback and analysis decide on the best idea
Make a final cardboard prototype of your idea.
Experiment with your prototype (try to move things around) and add anything that needs to be added (you can print out external spaces, and sustainable systems)
Justify why this house is the best idea based on your design specifications (In annotations - look at the website example)

On paper, sketch a floorplan (interior) of your house.
Pay attention to the dimensions, and location of windows and doors.
Plan essential furniture and locations (can be edited in C3)

Create a 3D model of the layout of your Sustainable House using Floorplanner.com. Include:

Living Spaces and accommodations for all users of the house.
Take screenshots of all relevant angles of your 3D model and upload them to your Workbook
Outline how the Final House design meets your Design Specification

B4: Planning Drawings
Take screenshots of any parts of your Floorplanner model which will be used to create your physical model. Consider printing:

Walls and surfaces
Representations of the Systems
Screenshots must be sized/scaled appropriately
Include measurements where necessary
Homework: Finalize your Workbook Criteria B for submission
