Back to school.... IDU at BHC
Monday Oct 7th saw BHA back at school in Toronto at Branksome Hall Canada. The day started with a yummy breakfast and an open session where the girls were reunited with their buddies from BH Canada. We attended an assembly and then promptly went into our Interdisciplinary Unit (I.D.U.) workshops. One of the workshops was about researching the diversity within Toronto and both the contributions and the challenges that various different cultural communities have faced.

Tuesday at school, students did some research and learnt about note taking. They then went out to different parts of the community to witness the cultural diversity around Toronto. They created thematic statements around the main idea of diversity in Toronto. Wednesday will see us doing art work around their theme and working on their final process journal.

In class students were working on their final products with visits from local artists to help students with their artistic pieces. Students worked collaboratively with their Branksome Hall Canada buddies to incorporate two pieces of research about their chosen community as well as two artistic devices to communicate their thematic statement.

After school students had time to visit the BHC school shop and look for uniform items exclusive to Canada and had time to play outside in the warm fall weather. In the evening we had the annual Korean Dinner during which a local Korean restaurant brought in popular Korean dishes like bulgogi, mandu, kimbap and tteok-bok-gi.
