7th Grade Social Studies Curriculum:

• Unit 1- The 5 Themes of Geography

• Unit 2- World Populations/Movement of People

• Unit 3- Global Economy

• Unit 4- The Middle East

• Unit 5- East Asia/ Korean Peninsula 

• Unit 6-Sub-Saharan Africa

Emphasis will be placed on understanding the geographical, political, cultural, and economic aspects of these regions through the lenses of the 5 Themes of Geography.  Additionally, through regular exploration of current events, students study public issues of global significance in these regions and debate possible resolutions them while considering multiple perspectives. 

Students will also demonstrate understanding argumentative writing skills like developing claims supported by evidence and backed with reasoning, and using a variety of media to research, analyze, and present geographic and economic data. 

Grading: 

• Assessment (Test, Quizzes, & Project) 

• Classwork (Participation, debates, in-class work)
