Studying for math is unlike studying for other subjects. Success in math requires the use of strategies practiced in class and at home; memorization of a particular way for a particular problem is less helpful. Here are some suggestions for studying for a math quiz or test.
Make flash cards of any vocabulary words or terms. Quiz yourself until you know all the definitions. These help you understand information presented in a question and what it is being asked.
Recognize and remember patterns in story problems. For example, recognize that when you are asked to find when two amounts or times match up again, you should be finding the least common multiple between the two numbers.
Review the Math Reflections or Looking Back sections in the books.
Have your parent, guardian, sibling, or friend make up questions for you to solve.
Review quiz questions to prepare for a unit test. Make sure you understand any mistakes so you don't make them again!
