Quick Tips

  • Chromebook won't turn on? Press and hold the refresh button and tap the power button

  • Unable to sign in to G-Suite Account? Log into the Genesis Parent Portal and check the sign-on credentials - @branchburg.k12.nj.us is needed after the username when not using a district chromebook.

  • If your child is sharing a computer it may be a good idea to use a different web browser for each account so the accounts are not confused when accessing school work.(For best results use Google Chrome for school)

Hard reset your Chromebook

  1. Turn off your Chromebook.

  2. Press and hold Refresh + tap Power .

  3. When your Chromebook starts up, release Refresh

Reset Chromebook to factory defaults - (Powerwash)

  • Factory reset your Chromebook

  1. Sign out of your Chromebook.

  2. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r.

  3. Select Restart.

  4. In the box that appears, select Powerwash. Continue.

  5. Follow the steps that appear and sign in with your Google Account

Check for updates

  • Turn on your Chromebook.

  • Connect your Chromebook to Wi-Fi.

  • At the bottom right, select the time.

  • Select Settings .

  • At the bottom of the left panel, select About Chrome OS.

  • Under "Google Chrome OS," you'll find which version of the Chrome operating system your Chromebook uses.

  • Select Check for updates.

  • If your Chromebook finds a software update, it will start to download automatically.

Clearing your cache

  • Open Chrome.

  • At the top right, click the three-stacked dots to expand the menu.

  • Click More tools > Clear browsing data.

  • At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.

  • Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.

  • Click Clear data.

  • Relaunch Chrome
