Incoming grade 9 students will read the book I Will Always Write Back: How One Letter Changed Two Lives, by Caitlin Alifirenka, Liz Welch, and Martin Ganda.
Copies of I Will Always Write Back can be signed out at the Bristol-Plymouth main office between the hours of 8 am and 3 pm, Monday-Friday, from July 6 through August 7.
Over the summer, grade 9 students will complete a DIALECTICAL JOURNAL, due on their return to school. (Found at the link above as well as below; you will be prompted to make a copy.)
To complete the dialectical journal for each section of I Will Always Write Back, select brief passages that you find important, interesting, surprising, or with which you can connect and write or type it in the first column. Identify the page number where you found the passage in the second column. In the third column, respond to the passage with your own thinking. If you’d like, you may use the sentence starters to help prompt your thinking.
