In our PSA, we talked about how you can take action and help reduce pollution in the Missouri River. Here's more information and ideas for how you can help.
--Dispose of waste properly. Don't litter!
-Recycle when possible, and try to incorporate reusable items into your lifestyle. Encourage others to do the same!
-Don't pour or deposit anything in storm drains. Everything that goes into a storm drain ends up in the river!
-Avoid pouring fat, grease, or oil down the sink. Instead, wait for it to harden and throw it away.
-Don't dispose of medications or household chemicals by pouring them down the toilet.
-Run the dishwasher or washing machine only when you have a full load, take shorter showers, and do other things to conserve water.
-Throw away solid food instead of using the garbage disposal. Or better yet, store leftover food for later.
-Advocate for companies to reduce pollution by contacting companies, signing petitions, and spreading awareness about pollution.
-Post about water pollution on social media to spread awareness.
-Decrease the amount of fertilizer you use on your yard or garden.
-Mulch or compost yard waste, rather than blowing it into the street where it can end up in storm drains.
