Burlington Youth and Family Services
Burlington Youth and Family Services (BYFS) has as its goal and mandate to provide a range of services designed to improve the quality of life for Burlington families with children, adolescents and young adults. In addition, BYFS, as one of the Town agencies that handles human services problems, endeavors to collect and provide information useful to all townspeople about available local and area nonprofit and social service resources.
Services Provided:
Crisis Intervention and Assessment - We provide urgent mental health care and safety assessments for Burlington students in collaboration with Burlington Public Schools.
Group Program - Our groups work to help kids and parents build support networks - kids with kids, parents with parents, and parents with kids.
Fit Girls - a running and reading program for 4th and 5th grade girls that builds self-esteem and confidence and helps girls connect with and give back to their community.
Parenting Journey - a group for parents at any stage of parenting. This program is designed to help parents increase their self-care practices, raise awareness of the past and present factors that influence their parenting styles, enhance their parenting skills, and utilize their strengths to support their child and build or strengthen nurturing family relationships.
NYPUM (National Youth Project Using Minibikes) - available for youth ages 10 to 14, this program utilizes a behavior modification approach where participants earn riding time while developing skills that help them change challenging behaviors.
Information and Referral Resources - Counselors screen residents and provide information to residents who may be eligible for aid from People Helping People, Inc (PHP), Salvation Army, HelpIs and other state, federal or local programs.
FISH (Friends in Service to Humanity) - BYFS coordinates rides to local appointments.
This is a referral agency-you connect with them and review what you are looking for/insurance information/demographics/availability and they do the research to help find an available therapist for you to work with.

Riverside is a community mental health agency that can provide you a Care Coordinator who helps you obtain services such as a family partner, mentor, In Home Therapist, or In Home Behavior Supports

ICC: Care coordinator that helps you obtain services and helps you manage the services that are in place
Family Partner: this is a person who has had similar life experiences and challenges with mental health in the home. They are a support for the parent and will work with you and be a sounding board and offer advice (You can not have this service on its own-you need either an ICC or In Home Therapy or an outpatient therapist who makes the referral for you)
In Home Therapy: provides in home therapy for your child and can bring the family into the sessions as well
In Home Behavior Therapy: provides the family with supports and tools to create more structure in the home by creating schedules, reinforcement/reward plans, parenting tips (You can not have this service on its own-you need either an ICC or In Home Therapy or an outpatient therapist who makes the referral for you)
Therapeutic Mentor: this person works with your child in the community and provides additional social/emotional support (You can not have this service on its own-you need either an ICC or In Home Therapy or an outpatient therapist who makes the referral for you)
Behavioral/mental health agency located in Burlington. New direct referral line available to all Burlington Public Schools students. School personnel or families can complete the attached direct referral line. Please note accepted insurances here.
The Children’s Room offers virtual and in-person grief support services for children and families at its Arlington Center location and at community organizations across the Greater Boston area. Services include peer support groups, parent groups, teen programs, and Family Night. Consultations and referrals are also provided.
