Hello 7th Graders and Families!! Here you can find the curriculum updates about what we will be covering in class each week.
This week students will familiarize themselves with the classroom, procedures, and expectations. Students will get set up with Google Classroom, Delta math, and other sites and resources we will use throughout the year. If time permits the topics we will address this week through games and group work will be multiplication facts, introductory integer topics, and converting mixed numbers to improper fractions.
This week some classes were shorter due to iReady testing. However, this week if time permitted we worked on integer introductory topics (comparing integers, using integers to represent real world scenarios, finding the inverse of a number, and finding the absolute value of a number). We also started adding two negative numbers together using a number line and integer chips.
This week, students will be working on their xtra math accounts to practice fact fluency as well as delta math to reinforce a variety of topics. In addition, we will continue to work on adding two negatives together but also begin incorporating decimals into the mix!
This week we will start reviewing varying fraction concepts EVERY week. I am choosing to focus on fractions because this is a topic which many students struggle with. This week we will look at representing a proper fraction with a picture, placing it on a number line, and writing an equivalent fraction for it. We will also continue to work on integer addition, with a focus on the rules this week (not needing to use a number line).
