ILMEA District 9 Junior Honors Orchestra Information

The Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) Honors Orchestra provides our students with an opportunity to perform with other outstanding orchestra students from our region of Illinois. Students participate in an individual audition that will determine selection for this year’s honors orchestra. Our region, district 9, is incredibly competitive, meaning that it is a profound honor to be accepted into this orchestra!
ILMEA Required Events
1. Audition — due to Ms. Liska by Wednesday, October 4th, 9:00 PM
See Google Classroom for sheet music and scales.2. Festival Performance—If your audition wins you a spot at the district orchestra, you will be invited to perform in the district festival orchestra!

Fall 2023 Audition Requirements
Individual auditions will take place online! Please look at Google Classroom for all recordings, scales, and excerpts.
1. Jr. Orchestra Scales for violin, viola, cello, bass; available with and without fingerings
2. Prepared excerpts: students should prepare each of the pieces (below) in its entirety. Specific excerpts will be released the week before the auditions.
