LA6:
Finished Contrasts and Contradictions...completed a CC Exit Slip (Google Form) in Schoology to show understanding of the signpost so far
Introduced the next signposts (Aha Moment, Tough Questions, Words of the Wiser ) through the same process as the other signposts...showed understanding by completing an Exit Slip on Schoology for each type of signpost
LA5:
Continued introducing Fiction Signposts through the Signpost Digital Notebook in Schoology...showed introductory videos for the next two signposts: Again and Again and Memory Moment...defined each signpost, went over the anchor questions, and discussed literary elements each signpost could help us to understand....practiced applying each signpost by watching a short film, identifying the signpost in the film and answering the anchor question for the signpost...provided scaffolded practice by moving from identifying the signpost in a video to identifying and analyzing in a short text
Centers: began our read aloud of Crash, while students tried to listen for examples of the three signposts we have learned about so far...any major signposts were written down on a Signpost Tracker they received in class, then analyzed by answering the anchor question for each and identifying possible literary elements the signpost could help us understand

LA5:
Turned in their Reading Genres puzzle where they had to identify the correct subgenre when given a definition, then color in letters on the puzzle to reveal a secret message and a Genre and Subgenre Reading Sort where they had to identify the genre and subgenre of a book and explain their answer
Introduced signposts in general...all authors put these items in their stories and they give us something to look for as readers...when we get to them, we should identify the signpost (explicit information) and then answer the anchor question for the signpost (implicit information) and then think about what literary element the answer could help us to understand
Each student accessed their own digital copy of the Signpost Notebook through Schoology...showed an introductory video that went over the first signpost: Contrasts and Contradictions...defined the signpost, went over the anchor question, and discussed literary elements the signpost could help us to understand....practiced applying the signpost by watching a short film called "The Present", identifying the CCs in the film and answering the anchor question for one of the CCs...will scaffold by moving from identifying CCs in a video to identifying and analyzing in a short text...will introduce the other signposts this week
