Our Destiny Library Catalog houses our digital catalogs for each of our schools. Students use this to browse for books when they are in our school library. They also use the "Home Page" tab in Destiny to link to our school's subscription databases and Websites that we use for lessons and research instruction.
Students and staff may access Pebble Go by visiting the home page of the Destiny Library Catalog or their Google Classroom. Pebble Go and Pebble Go Next are databases that students may use for research. A log in is not required when using Pebble Go in school and on a district issued device.
Pebble Go: This database is a great place for students in grades K-3 to find information on the topics of animals, biographies, health, science, and social studies. The tabbed articles provide informational text that can be read and/or listened to for research purposes or nonfiction interest reading.
Pebble Go Next: This database is a great place for students in grades 3-5 to find information on the topics of biographies, health, indigenous peoples' history, science, social studies, and states. The tabbed articles provide informational text that can be read and/or listened to for research purposes or nonfiction interest reading.
Power Library is a database that is available through all academic and public libraries in the state of Pennsylvania. Students can access Power Kids by visiting the home page of the Destiny Library Catalog or through their Google Classroom for library. Then they can clickon a database (Britannica School, Discover PA, Gale in Context, or TRUE Flix) that best fits their needs. A public library card number can be entered to log on from home. Students will not have to enter a card number if they are accessing Power Kids in school and from their school issued device.
Britannica School: This database is divided into an Early Elementary and Elementary category. Each category offers a menus of topics and a search bar that can be used to navigate to articles about a variety of topics. The articles offer a variety of text features including adjustments to language, font size, sharing via Google Classroom, and listening to the article aloud. Each article also offers a link to create the citation for the article.
Gale in Context Elementary: This database features articles on the topics of animals, art and music, geography, health, literature, people, plants, science, social studies, sports, and technology. Each article has special features to highlight and take notes, send, listen, download, print and cite the information.
TRUE Flix: This is a database of nonfiction eBooks on a wide variety of topics. Many of the eBooks include a read aloud feature to listen to parts of the book aloud.
Students may access World Book Online through the Destiny Library Catalog or their Google Classroom links. No login is required from their devices within our schools. Students may check their Google Classrooms or ask Miss O'Leary for information to login from home. World Book Kids and World Book Student are both online Encyclopedia Databases. Students can search for information about a variety of topics through the dashboard of topics or the search bar feature. Each article contains special features to help students translate, download, save, print, listen to and cite the information.
