BASH Choirs
Boyertown Area Senior High School’s Choirs are excited to bring their energy and passion for music to Boyertown and beyond!
Located 45 miles northwest of Philadelphia, PA, the Boyertown Area School District spans 100-square miles and includes six K-5 elementary schools, two 6-8 middle schools, and one high school for grades 9 -12. The high school currently enrolls 2,400 students and over 150 students are currently enrolled in choir. Choirs currently include a mixed-voice Concert Choir, 10 th - 12th grade select Show Choir, and a select treble choir, called Voces Excelsis. The groups rehearse daily as part of the curricular school day, and the select groups practice in the evenings, after school, and before school.
The music department at Boyertown has had a long tradition of excellence. The ensembles have been featured at Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, and American Choral Directors Association conferences. In January of 2023 the Select Choir returned to Carnegie Hall in New York City. In the recent past, the choir has been invited to a number of adjudications, festivals, and conferences including a trip to Philadelphia to perform at Temple University this past October. In March 2023, the BASH Music Department performed during Holy Week in London, England. In April of 2024, the choir will be performing in Boston, MA.
The district music department is staffed by 17-talented, hardworking faculty members who strive for the advancement of quality music K-12. The department also receives strong support from the community, administration, and the Boyertown Area Music League, all of whom helped make today’s performance possible. Jeffrey Kyle Brunner
Director of Choirs, Boyertown Area Senior High
Jeffrey K. Brunner is the director of choirs at Boyertown Area Senior High in Boyertown, Pennsylvania and has taught K-12 in the Boyertown Area School District since 2005. Under his direction, the Boyertown choirs have performed at numerous adjudications, at Carnegie Hall, and in Austria, the Czech Republic, the United Kingdom, and Spain. He is the past director of the Berks Youth Chorus in Reading, PA. Mr. Brunner earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, cum laude, from Mansfield University and a Master of Arts in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. He is an active member of PMEA and ACDA for which he has presented numerous repertoire and interest sessions. His select choir was invited to perform at the American Choral Directors Association 2017 and 2018 Fall Conferences. Mr. Brunner also enjoys working as the guest conductor at various high school, middle school, and children’s honor choirs across Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia.
