Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences will take place September 30, October 1, 2, and 3. Be on the lookout for a sign-up link on Parent Square to schedule your child’s conference.
Volunteering
It is my goal this year to involve families as much as possible. There will be many opportunities to volunteer throughout the school year- class parties, field trips, small group work, prep work, etc. If you are interested in volunteering your time and energy, please fill out this volunteer interest form. This is just an interest form, I will always ask again as events get closer but this gives us a place to start.
PTO (Parent Teacher Organization)
Subscribe to the Laurel PTO Parent Zone newsletter here for updates with information about Laurel PTO, upcoming meetings, and important events. Please direct all PTO-sponsored event questions to Lisa Cristea- PTO president and Roni Murdock- PTO Vice-President. The PTO email is laurelmagnet@gmail.com. Also, follow them on Instagram @laurelparentzone.
Labeling Personal Items
Please label all personal items! This may include jackets, backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc.
Birthdays
Birthdays are very special days for kids! We celebrate each student with a birthday song and dance. I will also ask you to email me a baby picture and a little blurb about them/the day they were born. You may send in a small food treat or non-food treat to school to share with the class. Only store-bought, individually packaged items such as mini muffins, pirates booty, etc. are accepted for allergy reasons.
Scholastic Book Orders
Scholastic Book Orders will be sent home periodically throughout the school year. This is a great opportunity to purchase age-appropriate books at great prices. You may order books for your child online (class code- PBMY4) or by sending money to school along with the order form.
Field Trips
We will take walking trips and/or bus trips. Chaperones will be needed, as well as, donations. All information will be sent home when the time comes.
Snack/Lunch
This school year ALL students are provided a FREE snack/lunch every day. If you choose to bring food from home, please pack your child a small nutritious snack/lunch to eat during this time in a bag labeled with their first and last name. Here is the link to the district's weekly lunch menu. There are 2 options for students to pick from.
Laurel Career Chats- Click the link to sign up!
As you know, Laurel Elementary Magnet has a very unique career connection built into what we teach, including Makerspace. We would like to include not just our Brea commerce community, but also our Laurel community.
We'd love to hear more about what you do. Why, you ask? Well, we'd like to be able to set up "Career Chats" where students can meet and listen to a professional talk about their career. That person may be you! Let's work as a team. We’d love to help students see a variety of careers from the military to trades, to musicians, etc…
At the end of the survey, you will be given a chance to submit another response. Feel free to forward the form to grandparents, friends, etc.
