Strategic Alignment

Strategic alignment ensures that resources and efforts from partnerships are directed to where they are most needed, often informed by data from tools like the BPS Opportunity Index, which identifies schools with the highest concentrations of high-need students. Both BPS and its partners operate with a common understanding of what they aim to achieve for students and school communities. This involves aligning partner programs and services with BPS's strategic plans.

BPS District Goals

Boston Public Schools (BPS) focuses on ensuring equitable access to a high-quality education for all students through 6 key District Goals and other key initiatives. The goals include opportunity and achievement gaps, accelerating learning, amplifying all voices, expanding opportunity, cultivating trust, and activating learning beyond school. These efforts are guided by a commitment to systemic change and addressing historical barriers to educational opportunity.

Eliminating Opportunity and Achievement Gaps:

BPS aims to achieve equitable and excellent student outcomes for all, with a particular focus on students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and students of color. The 2024 Student Opportunity Act Plan builds upon previous plans to address disparities and improve access to educational opportunities. This includes ensuring fair and equitable funding and providing welcoming environments for all students.

2. Accelerating Learning:

BPS is committed to providing a high-quality learning experience in every classroom and school. This involves creating joyful classrooms and ensuring all students have access to rigorous and culturally affirming learning experiences. The district also focuses on expanding access to wellness and enrichment opportunities.

BPS emphasizes shared decision-making, mutual accountability, and partnerships with students, families, and communities. Parents and caretakers are recognized as integral partners in creating relevant and culturally affirming learning experiences.

BPS is working to ensure that schools receive fair and equitable funding to provide students with greater access to rigorous and enriching learning opportunities. The district is also focused on creating welcoming environments that support all aspects of a student's education.
