Child Help Hotline: 1-800-422-4453

National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-8255

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is a network of local crisis centers that are available 24/7 to provide support for youth and adults who are in any kind of emotional crisis. In addition to the main hotline number listed above, anyone can also use their online chat feature on their website. Spanish: 1-866-628-9454


National Runaway Safe-Line: 1-800-786-2929

The National Runaway Safeline helps youth who have run away, are thinking about running away, or who already ran away but are ready to come home. Parents and guardians can also contact the hotline if they are worried about their child running away or if their child has already left home. The hotline is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Youth, parents, and guardians can also use the online chat feature on the Runaway Safeline's website to ask for help and get support, or can send a text to 66008.


The Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is a 24/7 crisis intervention and suicide prevention hotline for LGBTQ youth. Call: 1-866-488-7386. Youth can also text "Trevor" to 1-202-304-1200 for support, or use the online chat feature on the Trevor Project's website. TrevorText is available Monday-Friday between 3-10PM. TrevorChat is available seven days a week between 3-10PM.


New Hope, Inc.

New Hope, Inc. has a 24/7 hotline available to anyone who is a survivor of domestic violence or sexual violence. New Hope primarily serves Central and Southeaster Massachusettts. Call: 1-800-323-4673


DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESOURCES:

Safelink Casa Myrna: <click here: SafeLink> is the Massachusetts statewide 24/7 toll-free domestic violence hotline operated by Casa Myrna. SafeLink hotline advocates are multilingual, and have access to a translation service that can provide translation in more than 130 languages. Asian Task Force Against Domestic Violence: <click here: ATASK> primarily serves Asian families and individuals in Massachusetts and New England who suffer from or are at risk of suffering from domestic violence. Our clients include a range of Asian ethnic populations. ATASK embraces and represents all ages, cultures, abilities, and sexual preferences.

AARDVARC, An Abuse, Rape & Domestic Violence Aid & Resource Collection: <click here: AARDVARC> is for victims of violence, their families and friends, and the agencies and programs which serve them, both public and private. The goal of this website is to assist efforts to aid and support those trying to remove themselves from abusive situations and build healthier, stronger lives. For individuals, they hope to provide general educational and reference material as well as a comprehensive nationwide directory of services for "one stop shopping."


Addiction/Recovery Resources:

For many, recovery is a social endeavor, and isolation makes coping more difficult. Social distancing means that in-person gatherings which are crucial to this population, like AA meetings, are put on hold.

Unfortunately, the risk of relapse can grow with social isolation. But there are many alternatives to in-person meetings available to help maintain involvement in mutual help groups during this time. This list contains some available options, including virtual meetings, online support forums, phone meetings, and more.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)

  • Intergroup: An extensive directory of online meetings, chat rooms, email groups, and forums across a variety of group types. Platforms used vary from Google Groups, Yahoo Groups, Discord, Second Life, Zoom and others. http://aa-intergroup.org/directory.php

  • InTheRooms.com: Multiple online meetings daily for AA, NA, and others. Does require a login, though creation of an account is free.

  • 12 Step Online: A group discussion with various online meetings throughout the day. The chat room remains open for discussion at all times. Uses Google Groups. https://www.12step-online.com/meetings/online-aa-meetings/ 12 Step Forums: Scheduled online Al-Anon meetings, along with general chat rooms for Al-Anon, AA, NA, and others.
