Citations and Works Cited

What are citations and works cited?

Works Cited Page: A list of all the information sources used for an essay, research paper, or research project. They are formatted in a specific style. We use MLA style at Holland Tech. 

Citations: Each individual entry in the Works Cited page. These citatons tell the reader the title, author, publisher, and copyright date of the information sources you used, which allows people to find and use those same sources. 

In-Text Citations: (Also called Parenthetical Citations) A brief reference within the text that tells the reader where the direct quote or paraphrased idea came from. (author's name and page number)
