We kicked off the summer season with International Day of Play. To uplift the importance of play for children of all ages, 68 BPS schools planned play-focused programming using their recess equipment pack gifted by the City of Boston Office of Early Childhood. Some of the programming highlights included field days, incorporating more movement breaks throughout class time, staff vs. students basketball games, and so much more!
BPS Central Office Staff also celebrated International Day of Play with a field day theme event at the Bolling Building. Special shoutout to our community partners both Playworks and the Boston Public Health Commission for running some of the activities!

During July and August we brought back our annual Wellness Wednesdays Summer Series at Walker Playground.
The community came together to play some physical activity games, connect with our community partners, and learn about the importance of daily movement.

At the 2025 Boston Public Schools August Leadership Institute, school leaders were encouraged to participate in a few movement break activities. Not only were they able to showcase their dance moves, relieve stress with a good laugh, but also learn about the importance of incorporating movement throughout the school day.
