Kehinde Wiley, St. Sebastian II (Columbus) (2006). Oil painting, 279.4 x 218.4 cm.
A minority within a minority.
A double marginalization, as Reverend Godfrey Owino Adera puts it.
To be queer in Black spaces or to be Black in queer spaces. Either way, it can feel very lonely and very isolating. In order to shine a necessary light on an overlooked group of individual, I've taken testimonies from six Black queer individuals and compiled them into a zine that includes not only the aforementioned anecdotes but also works of poetry and art made by Black queer artists to act as interludes between every few stories.Â
