Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Test
If you're serious about joining the military, then get serious about the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). The ASVAB is a multiple-aptitude battery exam that measures developed abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success in the military. It is administered annually to more than one million military applicants, high school, and post-secondary students.

Your scores in four critical areas — Arithmetic Reasoning, Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, and Mathematics Knowledge (see below) — count towards your Armed Forces Qualifying Test (AFQT) score. The AFQT score determines whether you're qualified to enlist in the U.S. military.
Your scores in the other areas of the ASVAB will determine how qualified you are for certain military occupational specialties and enlistment bonuses. A high score will improve your chances of getting the specialty/job and signing bonus you want.

These tests will give you an idea of how you'll score, and identify areas that need improvement. Then use the suggested resources and ASVAB study guides to learn how to prepare for the ASVAB test.

The ASVAB will be given at Haughton High School at least once a year, but can be given as needed. This is a free service of the military recruiters and space will be limited. Listen for announcements and sign-up with Mrs. Stallcup in H1.

Can any grade level participate? No. Only 10th, 11th and 12th grade students can take the test. Scores for 10th grade students are used for determining vocational aptitudes only. Scores for 11th & 12th grade students are used for enlistment and determining vocational aptitudes.
What harm could occur from taking it too soon? Scores may not be valid for enlistment purposes. Students should study appropriately and prepare!
Can students retake the exam? Yes. Students can retest after 30 days have passed since the last test. This can be done through any recruiter.
