WHAT'S NEW! 8/17/23
Our last project of school year 22-23 was to make treat bags for this year's Military Dependent Students. These bags were everything Purple. Purple S2S Pencil with a sharpener and a pencil top figit. Purple wrist band "Hello" from "S2S." Candy, a note from some of our former and current members and a QR code to our website. (Thanks Mrs. Feliciano for the photo!)
Our first meeting of the year will be Monday, 8/21/23 during Flight Time. We will hit the ground running. First on our list is a membership drive and the 9/11 Military Family Dance. Stay tuned for more exciting stuff.

We are looking forward to our second annual Military Family Dance! Check out the pictures from last year. There was a great time had by all. You should expect nothing less this time! There will be a purple theme.

We are also making cards for the Veteran's Home to pass out on Veterans' Day, 11/11/23. This is what we worked on in Flight Time today and will continue to work on until we have 116 cards.
10/30/23 This is our Yearbook Picture. I think we are missing two members. Only four are returning from last year. Looking forward to our good works.
Current project is to come up with the design for the map wall that will be painter on the outside of the Office facing the Band room. Our rock garden will also be in this area and will be formed as a purple star. I can't wait to see all of this come to be.
ATTENTION: Begin working on your Purple Up t-shirt designs now. Due in January. Winner gets $300 gift card. I am excited to see what you can do!
Purple Up T-shirt Design: The design contest will run from Nov. 1 to Dec. 1, 2023. There will be K-5, 6-8, and 9-12 winners. All parish students are invited to enter the contest, and the chosen design for each grade band will be available to purchase this spring. All three chosen designs will be available for all grades to select from.
11/16/23 Our latest project was to write 116 Happy Veterans Day Cards for the residents at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Home. The students worked diligently to make this happen. I am proud of their hard work and hope the Veterans were glad to receive their cards.
After Thanksgiving we will start to purchase and build the frame for our Rock Garden. And submit design ideas for the Purple Up t-shirt design competition.
11/27/23
Club Meeting: Discussed building the Rock Garden. I spoke with Mr. Pedrotty and he wants it behind the Library between A and B Wings. We are approved to work on it 1/3/24 at 10 am! There is also an inside location for the World Map in B-Wing on the wall behind Mrs. Eseman and Mrs. Attaway's offices. Painting Individual Rocks will be an afterschool activity with food and drinks provided for those that come.
DON'T FORGET, PURPLE UP T-SHIRT DESIGNS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN THIS THURSDAY! I only have two so far. If you want to do one get it to me no later than Thursday Morning.
***** REMEMBER TO RETURN ANY UNSOLD JOHNNY'S CARDS AND/OR THE MONEY THIS WEEK!*****
12/4/23 Meeting: Post to our Google Classroom ideas to name the wall mural. We decided on a soldier holding a flag in his right hand and holding hands with a child in his left with the world map next to the child. We will work next week on getting this laid out on butcher paper. I'll go today and measure the tiles, we know the wall is 36 tiles long. The plan is still to start the rock garden construction on January 3 as well as starting the mural. The timeline for finishing depends on the amount of help. After they are completed we will work on having an after school event for Military dependent students to come put their dot on the map and paint a rock. Next year should be easier since it would be primarily 6th grade being added to it. I really like the brainstorming that went on today. Y'all are great!
1/3/24 What a Day! Thank you to the S2S members that came out to school on your break to help prep "The Wall." The guy I stopped in Home Depot was right, we needed the whole gallon of Kilz. Check out the pictures from today and look for the finished project on Saturday! We really wanted to provide something special for our Military Dependent Students. I hope they like what we came up with in their honor.
We taped, sanded and painted all in about four hours. The map is supposed to be delivered Friday, so we will meet again on Saturday to put it up and put up the poem!
Short lunch break at Taco Bell!
Yes, we know that part of the wall is not 100% covered, but it doesn't need to be.
1/6/24 Final Day working on The Wall. Check it out!
Lunch at Wendy's
A spirited game of Tape Ball/Broom Hockey!
While someone was hard at work.
Finally Done. Looks great. Thanks to all that helped!!🤩
Map Wall Dedication 2/29/24 We had a great turn out and really want to thank our Guest Speaker, Annagrace Snyder, who spoke about the sense of community she has experienced here at Elm Grove Middle School. Thanks to Capt. Colvin from the BAFB for attending . Thanks to District personnel that came: Sonja Bailes, Holly George and Asst. Superintendent Waylon Bates. Thanks also to the parents and students that participated. We look forward to adding destinations to the wall each year.

Next on the list of things to do: Field Trip to Monroe
Good bye to our 8th grader! Yes, just the one. We love you Kenzie. You have been a vital member of EGMS-S2S for two years. We will miss you.
4/27/24 Louisiana Culture Field Trip
We enjoyed the Louisiana Purchase Garden and Zoo in Monroe. We saw a "ginormous" tortuous, road the train and feed the Budgies.
Mrs. Carter really liked feeding the Budgies.
We had lunch at Trapp's Cajun Restaurant.
This trip was so fun and I really enjoyed showing this group some Louisiana Culture.
5/3/24 Today was Bitter sweet. It was our last meeting of the school year and we said farewell to two of our members. Jameson and family are moving to Missouri this summer and Kenzi is leaving us for high school. We support your future but will miss the spice you added to our mix this year. Good Luck to you both.
