Julie Burton is a Shreveport native and local artist. Most of her work has a focus on the natural world as she loves to collect rocks and minerals, fossils, feathers, and a wide array of outdoor specimens. After a year of studying Illustration in Idaho, Julie ultimately returned home and graduated from LSUS in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Art. Prior to teaching Talent Visual Arts, Julie worked as Artist in Residence for almost 10 years for Feist-Weiller Cancer Center’s Arts in Medicine program before becoming the program coordinator. During her time there, she enjoyed planning and implementing art projects for patients to complete while receiving their chemotherapy treatments. When she’s not teaching or creating, she can usually be found enjoying quality time outdoors with her husband and their 2 children. They enjoy camping, hiking, kayaking, biking, and skateboarding together. Julie currently teaches at Benton Intermediate School, Kingston Elementary, Legacy Elementary, W.T. Lewis Elementary, and Apollo Elementary.
Deanna Glaze grew up in Shreveport, La where she was a student in the first Talented Arts Program in Caddo Parish. She was also in an after-school program called Project Talent. In 2008 Deanna received her BFA in Graphic Design and Painting with a minor in Art History at The Memphis College of Art. She worked as a graphic designer from 2008-2014. She also taught pottery and ran the art department at Target House in Memphis, Tn. Painting was more of a personal escape in her spare time at her home studio. In October 2014 she began teaching in the Talented Arts Program in Bossier Parish. She currently teaches at Haughton High, Haughton Middle, Haughton Elementary and Princeton Elementary. Deanna currently lives in Doyline, La where she is married to her husband Toby. They have one daughter, Shelby.
Debi Jacobe has been teaching in Bossier Parish for the last 18 years as the Art teacher at Parkway High School. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. “Growing up we were always creating”, she took her first painting class in fifth grade. Debi has shown her work at Norton Art Gallery, BAC, The Donna Service Gallery at BPCC (named after her sister, Donna Service), and other assorted shows in the area. She is very excited for the upcoming year and looking forward to working with the students at Elm Grove Middle School and Haughton High School.
Glenda Johnson acquired her Fine Arts degree, majoring in Advertising/Design, from the University of Louisiana in Monroe in 1983. She was hired in 1983 as a Designer/Art Director for Luv n' care Inc., a baby clothing and hard goods manufacturing company. She traveled to many countries in Asia to work with manufacturers in producing final prototypes for their product line. She also traveled to Europe, working with Disney Babies, as well as other clients, in developing their product line for distribution in their country. Glenda freelanced for Clothworks and still is a freelance designer for Creatif Licensing Corp. based in New York, NY. In August of 2017, she began teaching in the Talented Arts Program in Bossier Parish in hopes to share her love for the arts with her many students from the South Bossier Elem. Schools. When she isn't teaching or creating art decor, she loves spending time with her husband, Greg, and their daughter, Madison
Thom Johnson is an artist working in Shreveport, LA. He has developed an eclectic style over the last 25 years, working with multiple materials and forms. Fantastical, whimsical elements mixed with mystery describe his overall work and approach. Johnson is creating new works that continue this idea but grow in scope and scale. He also make things with his friends at Studio Highland and teaches kids to create in the Bossier Parish Talented Art Program.
Stacy Lombardino received her BA in Art Education from Louisiana State University in 1996. She taught four years at Shreveport Elementary in Caddo and nineteen years in Bossier Parish- the last seventeen years at Haughton High School where she taught Art 1, Art 2, and Advanced Placement Art. Her students have won numerous awards locally and at the state level as well as participating in various art competitions and showcases throughout the state. Stacy received her National Board Certification in 2006 and in 2016 in the area of Early Adolescence/Young Adulthood Visual Arts. She has shown her work Caddo Parish Art Educator’s Exhibition, Bossier Arts Council’s Teacher Show, and Northwestern’s Hanchey Gallery. She lives with her husband Rusty in Bossier City. Stacy has two boys that graduated from Airline High School and currently has three granddaughters attending Bossier schools. She is currently serving Benton Elementary, Benton Intermediate, Legacy Elementary, and Rusheon Middle School.
Shelton Meacham received his BA in interdisciplinary Art / Education from Centenary College in 1999. Meacham taught art at Woodlawn high school and several other regional schools before moving to Natchitoches to pursue his MA in sculpture and ceramics from Northwestern State University. Meacham earned his MA in 2005 and spent the next few years teaching at NSU. Additionally, Meacham completed a Plus 30 in sculpture and ceramics from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches Texas in 2008. Shelton incorporates his artistic passion and love for woodworking in his hobbies of building “folk style” tenor banjos and boats.
Kayla Myers grew up all over the country and abroad because of the military. While studying in Germany, she became interested in the art masters and learning as many types of art media as possible. She graduated from LSUS with a BA in Graphic Design. She helped begin the local programming and graphics company xentientLABS LLC in the Spring of 2013. She still does freelance graphic design work in her spare time. She is married to her husband, Rhett. Together they live in Haughton with their sons, Silas and Evander, and two dogs, Bear, and Jaxon.
Anthony Reans received his BA in fine art from LSUS in 2004, and his MA in studio art from Northwestern State University in 2014. He was born in a small Texas town near Houston and came to NWLA in 1990 when he joined the Air Force and worked in Civil Engineering as an electrician. Upon leaving the service in the late 90s, he dedicated himself to his love of art. He worked in the early 2000s as a graphic designer, fine artist, muralist, and freelance photographer, then began teaching art in summer camps, continuing education, Sunday school, and more. Anthony continues to exhibit his abstract paintings all over the region and joined TAP in 2022. He lives in Shreveport with his wife, Danielle, daughter, Monica, and grandsons, Owen. He teaches at Greenacres Middle School and Parkway High School.
Hannah Spence earned a BFA in Fine Arts Photography from Louisiana Tech University. After graduating, she started working as a commercial photographer for a local Shreveport/Bossier Area corporation. Hannah is recognized locally and nationally for her photography skills. She is currently serving Airline High School, Bossier High School, and Rusheon Middle School.
Anna-Beth Witherington was a part of the Talented Arts Program as a student in Bossier Parish since she was in middle school. After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Art’s degree at LSU Baton Rouge, she began teaching elementary school Visual Arts and selling commissions through her business, AB Made. She relocated in 2021 and taught at a private art school in Frisco, Texas, where she taught ages 2-60+ over 30 different art courses. Since all roads lead to home, she came back to Bossier and joined TAP in 2023.
Lucia Woo and her family had a long history of migration. She was born in China, grew up in Hong Kong, studied in Canada and now lived in Louisana with her husband, their 11 years old son, and two dogs. Lucia Woo received a diploma in Graphic Design and Illustration in Hong Kong and worked as a designer and illustrator for ten years. Later, she went to Canada and acquired another diploma in Multimedia and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Alberta University of Arts in 2002. She moved to the USA in 2009 and started teaching at the Talented Art Program in 2016. Through teaching, Lucia developed a love for nourishing young artists and wished to be a better art teacher. She earned her Master of Art in Art Education from Boston University College of Fine Art in May 2021
