The Symphonic Winds is the most advanced level ensemble at Airline and plays grade 4 and 5 literature and masterworks from the band repertoire. 4th block Symphonic Winds is a class that develops individual musicianship and technique as well as ensemble skills required in playing higher-level music. The Symphonic Winds performs at the LMEA Assessment in March where they have consistently earned superior ratings and have demonstrated a high level of musicianship year to year. Additionally, the Symphonic Winds perform a Spring concert as well as other various performances in the community.
The Airline Concert Band is the second of the two concert ensembles. The Concert Band performs grade level 3 and 4 literature and is a developmental ensemble at Airline High School. The group follows a course of study designed to enrich and develop younger musicians with skills necessary to play in the Symphonic Winds. The Concert Band consistently earns superior ratings at the LMEA Assessment in March as well as a Spring Concert in April.
