I have been teaching math in Bordentown for 18 years and 20 years overall. I have also been coaching the field hockey teams (middle and, now high school) during my tenure here. I am a math nerd and enjoy watching "light bulb" moments with my students. I love Philly sports teams, singing, Disney, chocolate, and hanging out with my family.
I come from a long line of teachers. My grandmother taught middle school and my mom recently retired after teaching 5th grade for 30+ years. My extended family is also full of teachers, so we often have some great stories to share about life in a school.
I am married to a high school history and politics teacher - he doesn't work in Bordentown. He directs his school's musical productions. We have two daughters. Faith is 12 and is also a 7th grader this year. Paige just turned 6 and is ready to tackle first grade! We are typically always on the go as a family and enjoy lots of family time during the summer.
I graduated from Cherokee High School and Gettysburg College. Growing up, I was one of those people that was super involved in a lot of various activities. I performed better academically when I didn't have time to waste. Because of my experiences, I only know how to have high expectations. I want my students to rise to the occasion - which they are all capable of if they are willing to work through a challenge or two. I will never give you something you can't handle, but we grow and learn the most when we accept a challenge and don't give up.
I am looking forward to this year - and seeing what our newest group of students will bring to the table!
