UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Thank you to the PTA for generously sponsoring the ComedySportz NY assembly this week. Students were treated to a show by a professional comedy troupe that used a competitive platform to have students smiling, encouraging each other and building community! Students left the assembly energized and ready to take on the rest of the day.
The third graders have been drawing and painting Banyan trees. These special trees, Native to India, grow branches that reach back down into the soil where they take root and become more trunks! A Banyan tree may be around 100 feet tall but may spread laterally indefinitely. After completing the black silhouette of the trees, students will explore blending oil pastels using analogous colors in order to create vibrant backgrounds.
3rd through 5th grade students and their parents/guardians are invited to participate in the JHS Loves Math Night. The students will enjoy a fun evening of math games and puzzles. If interested please follow the link here.
The students in Mrs. Houser's 4th grade music class were composing their own music using bells. The students used rhythmic phrases and notes from the solfege scale to create these original melodies.
Ms Rogers. was selected as this month's Champion for Kids. Ms. Rogers earned the award by her dedication to the John Hill School community. She runs the drama club, stem club and various other clubs in the school. Ms. Rogers is very involved and always goes above and beyond for her students. She is always available to them outside of school if they need help with anything. Congratulations to Ms. Rogers for being selected as the February Champion for Kids!
Ms. Shiels has important information regarding spring sport physical paperwork. Please click here to view.
Please check your Realtime Parent Portal for second marking period grades. We are very proud of our students efforts in being the best students they can be! Also, attendance letters are available to view under the correspondence tab. Attendance letters are sent out once students meet attendance thresholds. The NJDOE has prioritized a measure of Chronic Absenteeism that our schools are accountable to. Chronic absenteeism occurs when a student misses 10 percent or more of the school days in session for which that student was enrolled. If a student is enrolled for the full school year, acquiring 18 or more absences equates to being chronically absent. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
