The Olson Nature Preserve is an 112 acre preserve in Boone County comprised of sandhills prairie, burr oak woodlands and wetlands along the Beaver Creek. The prairie portion has been overrun by non-native brome grass which has limited the native diversity. Since 2018, the Boone Central greenhouse class has partnered with Prairie Plains Resource Institute in restoring the ONP prairie so that it once again can be home to diverse prairie flora.
