There is a straightforward solution to avoid heavy taxation and social security insurance for small publishing houses and self-published authors in any country who want to publish in the US.
1. Sign up for Amazon KDP.
3. Cooperate with Book Offers.
The cost of producing the first copy is meager. Book Offers print costs are 15% lower than Amazon's KDP, and you won't be charged upfront.
Book Offers print at their own risk 1,000 - 80,000 copies and promote via email to readers in the US and Canada. Whether you want to participate in the cost of printing is your decision, and you will do it to quintuple your profit.
Without participation in printing the publisher's compensation is 10% of the net profit of each campaign.
With 74-79% participation only in first 6,000 copies it increases to 90%.
The process for a book of yours to be included in the Book Offers list is as follows.
1. You upload the HTML to the Amazon KDP in order to register the book in the largest bookstores in the country. The price you set must be such that there is a profit when it goes on sale at 55 - 60% off. Three months after the book is released, the book campaign can begin.
2. During these three months we send a sample of the book from 50 to 60 first pages, to readers who have shown interest in the category to which the book belongs.
We'll end up with 20 - 200 thousand people interested depending on the book.
3. We print 1,000 - 2,000 copies without any obligation from you. We send 2,000 - 4,000 emails and see how many will buy.
4. Two ways to proceed.
Example:
For a paperback book with approximately 300 pages.
You set the price at $20.00 (€18.80)
On Amazon KDP the cost of printing is $4.60. So from what is sold in the Amazon bookstore you have a compensation of $7.40. Of those distributed, publisher compensation is $3.40 per book. Of course, there is no cost if you don't sell since the print is made to order.
Next step
We order the printing from Amazon but the cost is $3.91 because it is prepaid. The shipping service charges $2.50 per book. The total cost for each book is $6.41.
The book on offer at 55% off is priced at $9.00 From the net profit of $2.59 you get a compensation of $0.26 per copy from the first copies sold.
In the next phase, you decide whether you will participate in the printing of 6,000 copies. From this campaign with no print participation, you will be compensated $1,560.
We continue like this until we run out of readers.
With participation, the printing costs 25% less and is $2.93. Therefore, 4,560 x 2.93= $13,440 participation for 6,000 copies.(See the table below for printing costs.)
You amortize the cost at 2,400 sold copies. After, for every copy, the compensation is $3.21.
If sales exceed 6,000, you won't have to pay for printing again. Once you amortize the costs (2,300 - 3,600 copies, depending on the difference between printing costs and book price), the compensation remains 90% of the net profit.
If offshore does not suit you for any reason, you can start a start-up in Arizona or Florida. It has fewer expenses and lower taxation. Also, the profits are taxed in the US and you transfer them to your country, and in the tax return, you file the statement of the state you choose so that they are not taxed again.
Attention!
Please note that we do not sell email lists. You pay for shipping to users registered with Bookoffers.
If you sell from your store, they become your customers, and you gain access to their emails.
