Welcome to 7th Grade English and High School Yearbook

HS Yearbook is a student lead, student run publication. This is a year-round elective that focuses on photography, journalism, marketing, graphic design, and business.
Students work with one another to capture the year within pictures, captions, and quotes. Each yearbook is a piece of history for students, families, and staff.
Each student who enrolls in Yearbook will be considered a Yearbook Staff Member. This class teaches core traits such as leadership, responsibility, punctuality, and communication. The class is run by students for students.
Golden Sierra using Herff Jones' Varsity to design, create, and publish our yearbook. Each yearbook. Each Yearbook Staff Member will have access to the upcoming yearbook through eDesign - our online software.
Students will work within the Varsity Program to design pages, design posters, create ages, and manage money.
Students will have the opportunity to apply for leadership roles and positions within the class. The class has six Lead positions that will step up to run the class as a leadership team. To apply, students must fill out an application, write a written response, and have two teacher letters of recommendation.
Students who are hired on will be expected to complete the following. If duties are not fulfilled, Leads are subject to position dismissal.
To be considered a Lead, students must:
Commit to being in Yearbook year round - Fall and Spring Semesters
Have passing grades in all classes
Have the mindset of being a community leader and act as such.
Ie. Staying clear of actions that would result in disciplinary/corrective action.
Be willing to stay late and or after school at least once a week to complete duties
The six positions are as followed:
Editors (2x) - Oversees and manages yearbook staff, page creation, deadlines, page disagreements, conflict resolution. Editors will be responsible for completing unfinished or reassigned pages.
Social Media Lead - Creating school appropriate content, helping staff members create content, posting regularly to promote sales, work closely with Sales Lead, managing Yearbook's social media's account.
Treasurer - Treasurer will manage Yearbook's money account, projected sales, incoming and outgoing fiances, forms, etc.
Sales Lead - Creating posters, ads, and coming up with content to promote the sale of HS yearbooks. Manage distribution, posters, and communication revolving sales.
Photography Lead - Responsible for managing, logging, and charging all cameras, gear, and equipment. Responsible for checking-out and checking-in cameras/equipment to staff members. Managing all photo uploads into the shared Google Drive. Going out and taking photos that are necessary for page completion if necessary. Helping/teaching yearbook staff members to use cameras and capture photos.
Students are grades in three categories:
Page Creation - 40%
"On-Assignments" / In class assignments - 40%
Sales and Distribution - 20%
