Jennifer M. Weaver, PhD
Associate Professor of Developmental Psychology
Boise State University

Hello and welcome!  I'm Dr. Jennifer Weaver, an associate professor at Boise State University.  I am a researcher, teacher, mother, wife, and lover of the natural world.  My research is in the domain of maternal psychology and I am fascinated by mothers' thoughts, feelings, and internal transformations.

As an undergraduate at the University of Oregon, I began my journey in psychology by studying memory in a cognitive lab.  I then moved to a developmental lab and worked with Dr. Marjorie Taylor on my honors thesis investigating a cross-cultural understanding of imaginary companions.  In grad school at the University of California, Irvine, I focused on parenting and family relationships in my work with Dr. Alison Clarke-Stewart, earning my PhD in developmental psychology in 2009.  After joining Boise State in 2012, my work shifted to understanding the complex links between infant feeding practices and mothering behaviors. Today, my work with the Boise State Family Lab continues to revolve around maternal psychology, broadly understood and in 2022 I also incorporated my training as a ICEA-certified Childbirth Educator into my academic work.
