Quantum Memory Bits
Quantum Memory Bits
Dr. Campbell has been thinking about quantum memory bits that operate at room temperature for quite some time. This was inspired by her work as a graduate student on Photosystem II and the oxygen evolving complex. This initial PSII and OEC studies led to studies of Mn-containing model compounds, many of which exhibited zero-field splitting.
This research focuses on finding a zero-field splitting material that could be used as a non-volatile memory bit, based on the quantum properties of the electron spin and the interaction with the electronic and nuclear environment (essentially a Qubit).
