Writing Submission Guidelines
Only enrolled Boise School District students in grades 10-12 may submit entries.
Students may submit two Valley Visions entries for literature and two for art. Be sure to use an Art Entry Form if you are submitting an art entry.
Acceptable literary entries include all forms of poetry and the following types of prose: personal & reflective essays, short stories, articles on topics of your choice, excerpts from longer pieces (novel, screenplay, etc.) and short plays.
Literary submissions should be in good taste and mindful of the fact that Valley Visions is a “school community” publication. The use of profanity, questionable imagery, and unsavory descriptions which may be offensive to some readers may disqualify your entry (ies). Works submitted MAY be class assignments but they MAY NOT have been published prior to submission.
Each literary entry is limited to 900 words, excluding the title and identifying information.
Literary entries are judged by a student editorial board consisting of 2 (two) editors from each of the district’’s high schools. The editorial board is supervised by the District Valley Visions faculty literary coordinator, Kam Walters.
