GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The Board is committed to maintaining a rigorous core curriculum and student performance standards designed to promote student achievement. The goal is to prepare all graduates of the District to be contributing members of society. The Board believes that the following high school graduation requirements are an important component of its commitment to students.

Graduation Plans

Graduation Requirements (Grades 9 - 12)

The following are the minimum required credits for graduation for the class of 2020 and beyond.

These requirements are outlined in Board Policy #2640.

Core of Instruction

Students must pass all 48 credits in order to graduate. Additionally, they must either have a 2.0 grade point average (GPA) in the following 29 core classes OR demonstrate satisfactory achievement in area(s) of deficiency. Core course credits include English (8 credits), Speech (1 credit), Social Studies (7 credits), Math (6 credits), Science (6 credits) and Health (1 credit). ​​

Additional note

English - 8 credits

​Speech - 1 credit

One semester of Debate also fulfills the speech requirement.

​Math - 6 credits

Successful completion of Algebra and Geometry are required. 6 math credits must be earned during grades 9-12.

Science - 6 credits

Successful completion of Physical Science and Biology are required. 6 science credits must be earned during grades 9-12.

Health - 1 credit

​​​2 credits of Fundamentals of Health Professions or Sports Medicine also fulfills the health requirement.

PE - 2 credits

​U.S. History 9 - 2 credits

​U.S. History 11 - 2 credits

​Economics - 1 credit

American Government - 2 credits

Required Electives - 17 credits

Financial Literacy or Critical Thinking (2024 or Prior Grads) is a required elective.

Total Graduation Credits: 48 minimum
