Referring a Student for G.A.T.E.

Pierce Park Referrals

• If a parent wants their child referred, but you don't have evidence to warrant a referral, print out a copy of this parent inventory for them to fill out.

• If you've got a student whose data indicates the need for a GATE referral, or you've received the completed parent inventory form, use this Pierce Park Teacher Referral to start the process (you have to fill out the teacher referral even if it is a parent-only referral).

• Once the committee verifies the students qualifies for GATE testing, I will start a folder for the student and email the parents a Permission to Test form. (You may receive a signed hard copy- please let me know you've received it and put it in my box.)

• Once the permission to test has been received, it can take up to 3 months for all the testing to be completed (the earlier in the year, the faster testing usually gets completed).

• Once all the data has been collected and the qualification status has been determined, I will send out an email to you, the parents, and the principal so everyone knows the outcome and can prepare accordingly.

• The email will contain a New to Pierce Park Pull-Out GATE webpage link that will give you and the families all the information they will need to start pull out successfully.
