I am so excited to get to work with you! New pull-out GATE students start at the beginning of each quarter. Please take a moment to look through this entire page to ensure you and your child are prepared for our first meeting together.
Leona Alexander has been a Gifted and Talented Education (G.A.T.E.) facilitator with the Boise School District since 2017. Before that, she lived and taught in the Denver metro area for 16 years. Mrs. Alexander has now lived in nine different states (and in Germany), and she is elated to call Boise her home. Mrs. Alexander and her family are excited to live in such a beautiful city and state where they can continue to nurture their love of camping and hiking in the mountains, and they are excited to add floating the Boise River to their yearly summer activities!
Mrs. Alexander was a professional musician before she started her journey in education and loves to integrate the arts in her instruction. She is currently working on completing her doctorate in educational leadership and policy study with a focus on ensuring each and every student has access to a engaging and challenging education.

It is extremely important to me that your child has a positive, rewarding, challenging, and successful year in pull-out GATE. To help us get off to a great start, I would like to hear from you- parents! Please click on the link below to tell me a little more about your child and how I might best contact you!
Lunch works just like it does at your home school! You will have a copy of your lunch card here at Pierce Park, so if you choose to eat school lunch, it will be charged the same way it is at your home school.
You can also bring your own lunch to school, but please note that Pierce Park does not have a microwave for students to warm food.
The Pierce Park lunch menu may be different from your home school. Be sure to check the Pierce Park lunch schedule on your GATE days!
While we ask teachers to try to be thoughtful of the GATE schedule, there are times when a field trip or concert end up on a GATE day. We ask you to use your best judgement. If you have committed to a performance, and others are counting on you, you should most certainly stay and perform. Same with educational field trips.
However, since we only meet once a week, and you basically get a "field trip" once every week, we ask that you consider going to GATE on days your class might be having a "fun" day scheduled since you get to experience fun things every single week in GATE! 😉
But again, we just ask you use your best judgement. You are responsible for your learning, so you need to make the decisions that are best for you.
It is very helpful to let me know you won't be attending GATE as far in advance as possible so I can plan accordingly. 💕
We only have Panther Pacers (walking club) on Mondays.
You will make new friends in GATE! We do lots of fun activities to get to know each other, and you will find that you will quickly look forward to coming to GATE to see your new friends from other schools!
