HELLO! My Name is Jaclyn Haugland and this is my 4th year as the School Counselor at Monroe Elementary. I am at Monroe on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and I am thrilled to be part of this wonderful community!
This is my 13th year as a school counselor. Most of my career has been at the junior high level, but I am so happy I found my way to elementary school. I grew up in Coeur d'Alene and attended the University of Idaho. After spending 11 years in Seattle and completing my M.Ed. in School Counseling, my family returned to Idaho in 2015. We love calling Boise home.
The school counseling program provides services aimed at helping students learn and develop to their highest potential. Some of these services include:
Classroom lessons (14-16 total) to help students identify feelings, communication, safety awareness, and problem solving skills (TIER 1)
Groups to assist students in improving academics, adjust to changes in their lives, or develop friendship skills (TIER 2)
Individual sessions and/or restorative circles as needed to help students adjust to school or deal with specific challenges (TIER 3)
Community resources for students and families in need of support outside of school.
Meetings with caregivers as needed to support student’s learning and social/emotional needs.
If you have any questions, concerns, or need support, please reach out to me by email or call to set up an appointment. I firmly believe that we can best help students through a team approach. I look forward to getting to know you and your family this school year!
Thank you,
Jaclyn Haugland
