Idaho has 14 different speech events broadly categorized into 3 different styles: Platform, Limited Prep, and Interpretations. Many of these events are preformed nationwide but some are specific to Idaho. Here you will find some resources to assist you when judging Speech Events (IE's) in Idaho.

The Limited Prep Events are composed the day of the tournament (often in special draw rooms) and presented. Limited Prep events include: Extemporaneous speaking, Retold Story, Radio Broadcast, and Impromptu Speaking

The Interpretation Events are based upon a students interpretation of existing literature. Interpretation events include: Duo Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, and Program Oral Interpretation (POI). NOTE: Many of these events discuss and interpret events, contexts, and situations of a serious nature. Some level of discomfort is common; however, if you are particularly sensitive to specific, traumatic events please let the tabroom know so you can be excluded from events which may, inadvertently cause you distress.
