Absent Students: Please open the Weekly Agenda slideshow and click to the day(s) you missed to find your make-up assignment(s). If the slide says "in Google Classroom," please locate the assignment in the correct week and complete the make up work. If it is a paper assignment, you can locate it upon your return in the Extra Papers Cart in the classroom. If you have checked the weekly/daily agenda and need clarification on the make up work, please email me at kelly.holder@boiseschools.org
All students are expected to adhere to Les Bois Junior High's behavior policy. We establish classroom expectations together the first week regarding acceptable/expected behaviors. If a student is acting in a way that is distracting to classmates, or not conducive to a productive learning environment, I will address the problem with them at an appropriate time. If the behavior does not stop, they may be required to serve a detention and/or complete a verbal or written apology. If the unexpected behavior persists, the student may be sent to the office, and/or parent contact may be made.
Student work will be assessed on a 4-point scale:
4=Meets Standards, 3=Approaching Standard, 2=Partially Meets Standard, 1=Needs Support, 0=Missing.
Students should have sufficient time during class to complete most of their work.
Reminder: Assignment/Assessment corrections/reassessments/revisions must be completed by the deadline posted in Infinite Campus (IC). If a date is not posted, then within five days from when the grade was posted.
Students should bring a writing utensil, highlighter, 3-ring binder, and composition notebook to class each day. Notebooks can be stored on the classroom shelf or taken home as a study aid. There will be some days I require them to be left at school for grading certain assessments.
Digital Literacy students will need their Chromebook daily. World Studies 7 students won't need devices as often, and I will communicate Chromebook-based work ahead of time so students will be prepared for class.
Boise School District aims to prepare students for success in the world of the future, and this includes preparing them to be literate in the ever-changing area of technology. Students are issued a Chromebook for their use in the classroom and at home. If a student needs to take their device home to complete assignments, they should be sure to bring it back to school the following day charged and ready for school use. We will be frequently using a variety of programs and apps throughout the year (especially in Digital Literacy), at which time I will clearly communicate my expectations for student opportunities and responsibilities regarding device use in the classroom. It is expected that students will only open the apps and pages needed in class to avoid distractions. Thank you for your support in encouraging safe and responsible use of technology at school and home!
It is expected that students leave personal devices safely stowed and silenced in backpacks, to avoid theft and inappropriate distractions. Students are responsible for their own devices at school.
“PEDs [personal electronic devices] must be turned off and stored in lockers during school hours.”
“...PEDs include non-district-issued …mobile phones, smartwatches, … e-readers, earbuds/headphones….”
“...students are permitted to wear [smartwatches] during the school day; however, they must remain in “do not disturb” or “silent mode”....”
Exceptions/accommodations for PED use may apply for certain students.
School policy will guide in dealing with violation of PED use.
