Year 10 Music Course Outline

Here are the classroom expections that we came up with togehter. You can also see them on the wall in our classroom.

Lesson 1 - Welcome to Year 10 Music! Tell me about what you know, how you learn, and what you are interested in -> Here

Lesson 2 - Structure

Learning outcome: Understand structure in music.

Learn about structure here. We will listen to a song and write about the structure.

Lesson 3 - today we are going to learn how to coil a lead correctly - watch this video - practice on one of the leads at the front of the class.

When you have mastered coiling leads correctly, we are going to each learn a new skill on your instrument. You set our own goal.

Lesson 4 - Timbre

Learning outcome: Understand timbre and how to write about timbre in a piece of music

Here is a link to the timbre page. We will listen to songs and describe the different timbres.

Lesson 5 - Recap Texture

Challenge - work in groups of four to perform a 30 second performance that uses texure changes.

Lesson 6 - Dynamics and Texture

Learning outcome: Understand the difference between dynamics and texture, and how they affect each other.

Lesson 7 : Writing notation:

Sign up to Noteflight using your school google account -> Noteflight

1. Create a new score

2. Write - year 10 Demo for title and your name for composer.

3. Click in the first measure/bar and place a note in the first space.

4. Can you add these notes - change the note value near the top left.

Review a performance - Go to your 10MUS google drive - open a doc called "Review a performance"

You will be go onto Youtube and watch a live performance of the song you have chosen for your performance. A cover version is best - that means someone other than the original person/band performs it. (can be a busker, or on a stage etc). Complete the worksheet after you watch the performance.
