A top priority at Bay of Islands College is to equip our students with the necessary skills to thrive in a 21st century environment. From 2017, we introduced Chromebooks for all new Year 9 students to learn with, and this is in addition to their stationery. Thus, becoming a Digital School.

A Chromebook is a streamlined personal computer that gives students the tools to learn in a new way that involves their creativity, allows them to learn at their own pace and also to direct their own learning. 

Bay of Islands College joined the highly successful Kaikohekohe Education Trust and Manaiakalani Education Trust at the beginning of 2017. The Trust is a cluster of six Northland schools whose students are already learning using their own Chromebook. Over the years, results show us there are increased levels of engagement, motivation and achievement.
