Now that you know what your design will look like, and what materials you will need for it, it is time to look at the how. How will you make each part of your design? How will you put all the parts together?
The process of producing an item is called manufacturing. It is large scale, and done for each thing that we buy. For example, How will I produce the sole for my shoe? How is it made? How is the rest of my shoe made? How is it put together?
Knowing what materials will be used will influence how the parts are made. Knowing how something is made will influence the final cost of the product.
Now that you have looked at the sixth step in the design process, do the following.
Research how your product will be made by googling how similar products are made.
Record the processes used.
Record the tools used.
Record the machines used.
