Bogalusa High School Moves Graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020 to July

April 17, 2020

High School administrators and district administrators continue to work in recognizing our seniors and ensuring we support their learning and graduating this year. Plans are being made to host an in-person, formal graduation ceremony, if permitted, in July. Senior year is one of the most memorable times in our students’ lives, and we want to do everything we can to make this moment special for the Class of 2020. Our students deserve a traditional graduation ceremony, and we want to do all we can to make that possible. Should it not be safe to hold an in-person commencement ceremony by July, the school will hold a virtual graduation in mid-July. Once final plans have been made for our graduation ceremony, and they have been confirmed, we will share them with you. Additional senior recognition plans are also being made and will be shared once we determine them.

District and school administrators, along with stakeholders, will determine future summer school and 2020 - 2021 school year plans as it relates to students’ mastering content and grade-level standards. These plans could involve additional summer school weeks for selected students, online options, extended hours of remediation during the school year, or by whatever means necessary to ensure students are prepared academically for the next grade level. We remain connected with the Department of Education as we complete our plans and move forward.

During these unprecedented times we are working extremely hard to provide our students with learning opportunities, support our families, and equip our employees with the necessary tools to be successful. Thank you as always for your patience and continued support as we navigate through these times. We are here to support you and remain committed to every student every day. We are dedicated to helping each student reach his/her potential.
