Bogalusa City Schools is committed to keeping you informed throughout the mandated school closure. The following is a list of frequently asked questions as a resource. We will continue to update these FAQs as the information becomes available. Updates are always available on the Superintendent’s letters weekly at www.bogschools.org.
General Information

1. School Closures – All schools and school facilities will remain closed through the end of the school year.
2. Learning at home – At home learning resources are available and can be accessed online at bogschools.org under the news and announcement page. Resources have been organized by grade level and based upon standards that our students would have been learning while in school. These material are not mandatory, and will not be graded. It is simply a resource to assist students to minimize skill regression during the school closure. These resources will be changed and updated with new materials weekly.
3. Internet access at home – If you do not have access to internet at home, you may apply for internet access for $5 - $10 per month through AT&T Access, and Century Link Lifeline. Free Wi-Fi is also available in the parking lots of the Washington parish Library, Bogalusa Branch. Please refer to their information on their website for this service.
4. Making up days missed – At this time we should not have to make up the days missed by the school closures. The Governor’s proclamation suspended seat time and attendance required by law. If this does occur in the future, we will adjust our calendars to reflect the time as decided by the Governor’s office and LDOE.
5. Cleaning of schools and buses – During the school closures Bogalusa City Schools will deep clean all facilities and buses.
6. Kindergarten registrations – Kindergarten registrations will be rescheduled once school reopens. We will inform the public of these dates as soon as they are determined.
7. State testing and LEAP 2025 – The U.S. Department of Education has approved the Louisiana Department of Education’s waiver request for assessment, accountability, and reporting requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act. This means Louisiana WILL NOT REQUIRE standardized testing for the 2019 – 2020 school year. BCSS will not conduct standardized testing this school year.
8. Report Cards – Report carts will be mailed to our students.
9. Athletics – As of April 9, 2020 LHSAA (the Louisiana High School Athletic Association) has cancelled all remaining 2019 – 2020 winter sports championships, as well as all spring sports regular seasons and those respective sport championships.
10. Pre-K Registration - Pre-K Registration for BCSS will be handled through telephone calls at the Bogalusa City School's Board Office. Continue to watch our website for the number and dates of registration. Your will need access to a smartphone, and your child's birth certificate, social security card, immunization records, and proof of residency. Stay tuned for more information.
High School Information:
We received information on April 2 from the LDOE specific to high school seniors and graduation requirements. This information is being reviewed with district and school administration for finalize specific guidance for high school seniors relative to senior courses credit, grades, and graduation requirements.
10. FAFSA – Students who have not completed the financial aid planning requirement (FAFSA) will be eligible to graduate. This has been waived for graduating seniors for 2020. However, if your child is planning to attend a post- secondary institution in the fall, and is planning to apply for scholarships, they will need to complete the FAFSA application. Please refer to the letter that was sent to all seniors for information on how to complete this.
11. LEAP 2025 – The spring LEAP 2025 assessment window has been cancelled and the requirement has been waived for currently enrolled graduating seniors.
12. ACT testing – ACT testing for our juniors and seniors who need to retake the test has been rescheduled for June 2, 2020. The next testing date for ACT that you as a senior will have to register for is June 17. Both of these dates will count for your ACT score in a post-secondary institution.
13. Dual enrollment classes- Students should continue working through their course at this time. Our high school dual enrollment teachers should provide support for our students.
14. Senior supplies and senior invitation pick up – Senior supplies that have been paid for were to be picked up on April 8, at the high school during grab and go lunch distribution. If you still owe money on these supplies, you will be contacted by the school as to when and where to pay and pick up your supplies.
14. Graduation ceremonies – The status of events after the mandated school closure has not been determined at this time. We will work towards a plan to hold a graduation ceremony after the stay at home order is lifted. It will probably be in June or after.
15. Prom – At this time PROM has been indefinitely postponed. If alternate plans are made for a later date, high school will share that information.
16. Work Permits – In response to the current COVID19 event per La. R.S. 23:184.1, the Louisiana Workforce Commission (LWC) will begin issuing sixty (60) day blanket Employment Certificates for employers desiring to employ minors in the State of Louisiana.
