AP exam registration will begin on August 26th and conclude on September 3rd. The cost of each AP exam is $50. If you qualify for free/reduced lunch, the cost is $30 per exam.

Advanced Placement Program (AP) administered through the College Board offers students an opportunity to take college-level courses and exams while still in high school. Students successfully completing advanced placement courses and AP testing may earn credit and /or advanced standing in college. The AP bulletin is available online at www.collegeboard.org/apstudents. Students should register for Advanced Placement tests in the High School Counseling Office by submitting a check made payable to Blue Mountain High School. The 2026 Advanced Placement Exam Schedule can be located on the College Board website at www.collegeboard.org/apexams. The College Board can also be contacted by calling 1-888-CALL-4-AP (1-888-225-5427). Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multi-aptitude test battery. It consists of 10 short individual tests covering Word Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge, General Science, Auto and Shop Information, Numerical Operations, and Coding Speed. Not only do you receive scores on each of the individual tests, you also receive composite scores. Composite scores are the results of several individual tests combined to yield three academic scores: Verbal, Math and Academic Ability.
Who takes the ASVAB?
The test is offered to any sophomore, junior or senior who is considering a military career, however, the test is also an excellent career interest inventory for all students.
When is the ASVAB offered?
The ASVAB is offered September and April of every school year. During the 2026-2027 school year, the ASVAB will be offered on Wednesday September 30th, and possibly a date in the spring.

SAT I: Reasoning Test is a college entrance examination. The College Board recommends students take this test during their junior and/or senior year. Students receive a reading and math score. Students must register for the SAT online through The College Board website at www.sat.org/register. There are numerous books, websites, and computer software available to assist students in preparing for the SAT’s. However, the best preparation for this test is a strong, challenging course load throughout the high school years. The SAT is offered at Blue Mountain High School in September, October, November, December, March, May and June. Registration deadlines for the SAT are two to three weeks prior to the administration of each test. The registration dates and deadlines for the 2026-2027 school year are as follows:

Admission tickets must be printed and brought to the test center. Students must also bring picture identification. The SAT is administered on a Saturday morning and lasts approximately five hours.
The ACT (American College Test) is a college entrance examination accepted at institutions throughout the United States. It is generally taken during the junior and/or senior year. Students receive scores in English, Reading, Math and Science Reasoning, in addition to a composite score. Also, the option of a writing component has been added to the ACT. Most colleges accept both the SAT and/or the ACT for admission purposes. The ACT is not administered at Parkland High School but other local high schools do offer the exam. Students must register for the ACT online at www.actstudent.org.
School Day PSAT
This year, Blue Mountain will offer the PSAT on Tuesday, October 27th at 8 am in the high school cafeteria. The cost is $20.00. Cash or check made payable to Blue Mountain High School. Students may register in the guidance office by submitting their name and payment.
Act 158: Pennsylvania Keystone Exams
Act 158 of 2018 (Act 158), signed into law by Governor Tom Wolf on October 24, 2018, provides alternatives to Pennsylvania's statewide requirement of attaining proficiency on the three end-of-course Keystone Exams (Algebra I, Literature, and Biology) for a student to achieve statewide graduation requirements.
Effective with the graduating class of 2023, students have the option to demonstrate postsecondary preparedness through one of four additional pathways that more fully illustrate college, career, and community readiness. Keystone Exams will continue as the statewide assessment Pennsylvania uses to comply with accountability requirements set forth in the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Although students will no longer be required to achieve proficiency on the Keystone Exams to meet the statewide graduation requirement, students must take the Keystone Exams for purposes of federal accountability. Failure to do so will affect a Local Education Agency (LEA) and school's participation rate.
The Act 158 Toolkit was designed to provide guidance as a result of the enactments of Act 158 and Act 6 of 2017 (Act 6), which established alternative pathways to meeting statewide graduation requirements for students who are Career and Technical Education (CTE) concentrators.
