About PASSS
The Association of International Malawian Schools (AIMS) was created in 2012 and included 5 schools (Bishop Mackenzie, Saint Andrews Primary School, Phoenix International Primary School, Hillview International School, Sir Harry Johnstone) playing in a multitude of sports; Hockey, Swimming, Football, TAG Rugby, Netball, Cross Country and Athletics in the U11 age category. Swimming and Athletics have U8, U9, U10, U11 categories.
In 2015, an U9 competition was added for the most popular sport of boys soccer. U9 categories were also created for cross country in both male and female categories.
In 2020-21 the AIMS competitions were postponed due to the Corona-Virus pandemic.
In 2022, Bishop Mackenzie decided to pull out of the Hockey competition due to a lack of local competition in Lilongwe. The other AIMS schools did not hold a competition in hockey in 2023 or 2024.
In 2023, it was agreed to balance both the hosting of events between Central and Southern regions (BMIS will host Tag Rugby and Netball for the first time) and gender equality (U9 girls soccer introduced for the first time).
From 2024, the U9 girls football will be scored for the first time. Shotpot will be introduced for the first time in Athletics for G4 and 5 (Y5 and Y6).
In 2023, as Hillview International School expanded their school into Secondary it was suggested that the current Secondary competiton, previously known as Tri-Schools (Bishop Mackenzie Int School, Saint Andrews Secondary School and Kamuzu Academy) will join together with Hillview to create an a Quad School League.
The Association of International Malawian Schools aim to provide children, both male and female with the opportunity to play competitive sport in a safe, conducive environment. The organisation aims to create and promote inter-cultural connectiveness through sport which has deep rooted values in respect, fairness and joy.
