Lifetime Wellness

Lifetime Wellness/PE

This course introduces the student to the life-long process of positive lifestyle management that seeks to integrate the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical dimensions of self for a longer, more productive, and higher quality of life. Students will acquire knowledge of physical fitness concepts, understand the influence of lifestyle on health and fitness, and begin to develop an optimal level of fitness. Students completing this course will be better prepared to assume responsibilities for personal wellness.


Lifetime Wellness

The objective of this course is to aid the student in development of a life-long process of positive lifestyle management that seeks to integrate the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical dimensions of a self for a longer, more productive, and higher quality life. Students will also acquire knowledge of physical fitness concepts understand the influence of lifestyle on health and fitness, and begin to develop an optimal level of fitness.

Strength & Conditioning

Strength and Conditioning (P.E. II)

1 term-1 credit

Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Wellness credit

The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop understanding of fitness concepts, design a personal fitness program, and develop an individualized level of health-related fitness. This course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in weight training, further improve muscular strength and endurance, and further enhance self-image while increasing fitness levels through strength training, flexibility, plyometrics, agility/quickness drills, and speed development.


Strength/Conditioning A/B

1 term-1 credit

Grades 10, 11, 12

Prerequisite: Instructor/coach approval

The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop advanced knowledge and skills in weight training, further improve muscular strength and endurance, and further enhance self-image. Emphasis will be placed on advanced lifting techniques, nutrition, speed, quickness, and fundamentals.

Team Sports

Team Sports

Grade 11

Prerequisite: Wellness credit

The purpose of this course is to develop the physical skills necessary to be competent in many forms of movement, knowledge of team sports concepts such as offensive and defensive strategies and tactics, and appropriate social behaviors within a team or group setting. The integration of fitness concepts throughout the content is critical to the success of this course.

Individual and Dual Sports

Individual and Dual Sports

Grade 12

Prerequisite: Wellness credit


The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop knowledge and skills in specified individual and dual sports and to maintain or improve health-related fitness. Appropriate instructional practices and assessments are used to elicit evidence of student understanding and proficiency of course specific benchmarks related to the 5 components:

Motor Skills, Cognitive Concepts, Fitness & Physical Activity, Personal and Social Responsibility, and Values Physical Activity as outlined by the Tennessee Physical Education State Standards.
