My name is Lisa Chinn. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP) in the State of Washington. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington in 2003. I received my Chemical Dependency Professional certification with high distinction from Bellevue College in 2006. I have been working with individuals with co-occurring disorders for over 11 years, but have been in the field of mental health services since 2000.
I have a passion working with adolescents, adults and families. I enjoy helping you discover your strengths and finding joy in your life. My career has primarily been with working with adolescents and their families in a variety of environments, including incarcerated youth, foster care/adoptions, as well as substance use and those with chronic psychiatric and medical conditions. Over the years, I have developed and integrated the complex challenges that comes from work with individuals who struggle with mental health and substance abuse and a few with added chronic medical conditions.
As I reflect back on my life and those who impacted me the most, both those who encourage me and those who have cause hurt, I think about how they have impact my life. Some have been in my life for a lifetime, but some were only there for a season. There was one person who was only there for a few hours, but left an everlasting impression.
We never know why someone is in our lives, or how long they will be there, but I believe it is my responsibility to respect the time that you share with me and that time to be one of self-discovery. This has been my philosophy for most of my life, the time spent can lead to positive change.
My philosophy in counseling has been, the client has the ability to make the changes in their life. My role in their life is to be the guide that helps them discover their strengths.
If you or your family choose to work with me, I will provide an open, supportive and caring environment for you to share your difficulties and challenges and help you find your solutions that will free your heart to experiencing JOY and excitement that this life can bring.
When I am not working, I enjoy hanging out with friends, watching football games (GO Hawks!), eating out, cooking, baking goodies for people and traveling. This year has been a great adventure in traveling. I took my first significant road trip to the Grand Canyon, a place I had never been to before. Along the way, I stopped to visit friends in Nevada and California. I also traveled to Anchorage, Alaska, New Orleans, Louisiana, Vancouver, BC and Honolulu, Hawaii. This is the most traveling that I have ever done in a year. I haven’t figured out where I will travel next, but look forward to next adventure life will sure enough bring.
