Advanced Placement (AP)

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a cooperative educational endeavor between secondary schools and colleges/universities.  Since its inception in 1955, the AP has motivated high school students with the opportunity to take college courses in a high school setting.  Students who participate in the program not only hone college level skill but also in many cases, earn college credit while they are in high school.  Advanced Placement courses are taught by dedicated and enthusiastic Bloomfield Central teachers who follow course guidelines developed and published by the College Board. All students enrolled in AP courses are strongly encouraged to take the AP examination in May. (Some courses are co-seated with Gemini or IB.)
