• fit within one or more of the CAS strands
• be based on a personal interest, skill, talent or opportunity for growth
• provide opportunities to develop the attributes of the IB learner profile
• not be used or included in the student’s DP course requirements
CAS experiences should involve:
- More than volunteering
- Real, purposeful activities, with significant outcomes
- A personal challenge – tasks must extend the student and be achievable in scope
- Thoughtful planning, reviewing of progress and reporting
- Reflection on outcomes and personal learning on ManageBac
In addition to the 7 Learning Outcomes there must be evidence of:
- A balance of creativity, action and service activities throughout the 18 months
- Approximately 1 to 4 hours of CAS per week
- A sustained project over several weeks that involved collaboration and the integration of at least two of creativity, action and service
